Your tasks stay yours.

Overview

Elucidate is a task manager developed by Steve Smith. It does not require an Elucidate account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking.

Tasks, lists, and images

Your task text, lists, schedules, and attached images are stored in the app on your devices. New installs keep that content on the device until you optionally turn on iCloud Sync so content syncs across your Apple devices through your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Appearance, weather, and notification preferences stay on each device.

A shared Apple App Group allows the Elucidate widget and Share Extension to access only the information needed to provide those features. Task and image content is not sent to Elucidate’s developer or sold to anyone.

Widgets can display task titles on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. You control whether and where widgets are installed.

Optional weather and location

If you enable current-location weather, Elucidate requests location access and uses Apple WeatherKit to retrieve the current temperature. You can allow approximate location; the coordinates supplied by your device depend on your permission settings. Elucidate does not save your live location or use it for advertising or tracking.

You may deny location access and enter a U.S. city instead. City search uses Apple's mapping service, and the selected city and coordinates are saved on your device. The city's coordinates are used for the weather request. You can disable weather in Settings.

Apple processes the location used in WeatherKit requests to provide weather. Apple states that this location is not associated with personally identifiable information and is not tracked between requests. The developer does not receive these weather requests. A recent temperature and its location are cached briefly in memory to avoid repeated requests.

Optional calendar access

When you open Scheduled, Elucidate may request full Calendar access to display today’s and tomorrow’s events alongside your tasks. This uses Apple’s EventKit framework. Elucidate reads event details for display; it does not create, edit, or delete your calendar events or send those details to the developer or the weather provider.

You can decline access and continue managing tasks. You can change Calendar permission in your device’s Settings. Calendar events remain managed by the accounts you have connected to Apple Calendar.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Elucidate schedules notifications locally through Apple’s notification system. Notification preferences and pending reminders remain on your device.

Purchases

Elucidate is purchased once through the App Store, with every feature included. Apple processes the app purchase. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and the developer does not receive your full payment details.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual tasks and lists inside the app. Deleting Elucidate removes its local app data on that device, subject to Apple’s normal device backup behavior. If you enabled iCloud Sync, content synced with iCloud is managed through your Apple Account and iCloud settings. Reinstalling the app does not by itself recover previously deleted task content.

Support and this website

If you email support, the developer receives your email address and the information you include so they can respond. Please avoid sending private task content or images. You can ask for your support correspondence to be deleted.

This support website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes connection information needed to serve and protect the site under its privacy policy. The site does not include advertising or analytics scripts.

Children

Elucidate is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated as Elucidate changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
